The Norwegian Physical Society awards 3 prizes:

Norsk Hydro's Birkeland prize in physics The prize is awarded for outstanding Norwegian works within the field of physics. The prize, NOK 25.000, was awarded for the first time in 1999, next time is in 2000.

The Education prize The Norwegian Physical Society, with support from the publishers Cappelen, NKI and Aschehoug, the Norwegian educational union, and Statoil, awards a prize to recognize excellent work in the Norwegian School teaching physics. The prize, NOK 15.000, is awarded every second year (next time in 2001).

Simrad Optronics prize in electro-optics
The prize is awarded for a Norwegian work in the field electro-optics. The prize is NOK 15.000 and is awarded every second year (next time in 2001).
